Padlet is an alternate communication platform that allows students to have discussions outside of the traditional threaded format. The steps below describe using Padlet in EERL 807, however, much of these instructions can be extended to other courses.

titleLogging in to Padlet

By default, Padlets in EERL 807 require users to be logged in to participate. At the beginning of the Semester you should have received Padlet Account Activation message in your Queen's email account. If you never received a message, please email . The steps below require a Padlet username and password.

  1. Access the Padlet Login page
    1. If you are viewing a course Padlet, select Log in and retry
    2. Outside of the course, visit

  2. Login using the username and password that was sent to you. In most cases the username will be in the format while the password will be your NetID (all lower-case)

titlePosting in Padlet

titleWriting a Post

When viewing a Padlet, a post can be added by double clicking anywhere on the Padlet or by selecting the add button in the bottom right corner (). Various Multimedia types can be added when posting. Expanding the more icon will display all of the available options.

  1. Click on Add comment below the post you wish to comment on.
  2. Once the comment has been written, press the return key to save the changes or click on the arrow icon () beside the comment

Unlike Posts, comments are not automatically saved. If step 2 is not followed, the comment will likely be lost when the page is refreshed.

titleBest Practices

Since Padlet is internet based, there is always a chance of posts or comments being lost due to a disconnection. To help mitigate this, it's recommended that lengthy posts (e.g. requiring longer than 15 minutes to write) be written locally and copied over to Padlet.
